 This is the ship which gave its name to the movie starring Katherine Hepburn and Humphrey Bogart. The story takes place during World War I. the African Queen attacks the German warship "Konigin Luise" on lake Victoria in Africa, after a long and dangerous trip down the tributaries to the lake.
Hull is ABS Plastic with laser cut wood parts, planking, and complete fittings including steam engine (non working) in metal, brass, wood and plastic. Rub rail line, silk flag, pre-printed and colored canopy cloth and mounting cradle are also included along with prop, shaft and stuffing box. Basic installation of two motors (not included) is shown, one for realistic operation of the steam engine, and one for propulsion. Also fully illustrated construction manual and plans. A well experienced modeler should be able to accomplish the installation of the Midwest Heritage Steam engine in this kit for real steam power. It is the same scale as this model.  The Calypso was built in the USA in 1942 as a minesweeper. she was bought in 1950 by Jacques-Yves Cousteau, and after extensive changes and modifications became a fully equipped ocean research vessel, complete with observation chamber, inflatable boat for shallow waters, helicopter, and much other submarine equipment.

 Built in 1893 for the "Norwegian Society for Shipwreck Salvage" at the Colin Archer shipyard in Rrkkrvig near Larvik, Norway, RS-1 was later named "Colin Archer" after it"s designer and builder. The Billing Boats model is suitable for remote control installation. Each model is equipped with a numbered and signed certificate.
Hull is ABS Plastic, with wood decking, masts, booms, spars and deck houses. Some wood parts are laser cut. Included are complete fittings in white metal, brass, photo-etched brass and plastic, rigging line, silk flags, printed sail cloth and prop with shaft and stuffing box for an auxiliary electric motor. Full instructions and full size plan sheets are accompanied by a book of modeling hints. Plans for complete radio control installation are also included.  The Cux 87 is a typical German trawler from the Deutsche Krabbenkutter Werft. this type of boat is often seen in the small harbors along the North German Coast.

 Henry Hudson (1565-1611) was an English explorer who received a commission from the Dutch East India Company to find a Northern trading route to China and Japan. In April 1609 he sailed North and East on the ship the "Halve Maen" to try and find a route around the northern shores of Russia in order to reach the Pacific Ocean that way. After several attempts, which always were stopped by the pack-ice, he crossed the Atlantic to try and find a route north of America. On this voyage he sailed up the Hudson River as far as Albany. Later this river valley was settled under the auspices of the Dutch West India Company and became known as the New-Netherlands.

 This ship is a 50 foot steam pinnace from around the middle of the 19th Century. These boats had a small forecastle, a room for the crew, a boiler room and a cabin. Above the crew's quarters was a conical steel base with a permanent universal ring on which a 3lb. quick-firing cannon or maxim machine gun could be mounted.

 The Mary Ann is the model which Billing Boats started with in 1958. the ship is a typical 45 ton cutter commonly seen in the harbor at Esbjerg, Denmark. Often more than 600 cutters of this type can be seen at the same time. The model kit is based on the original drawings.

 A three-masted galleon launched in 1615, she was 19.5m long, 3.35m wide with a displacement of 180 tons. The first information about the Mayflower dates from September 6, 1620. After a number of difficulties, the vessel sailed from Plymouth, England with 102 men, women and children on board. After 67 days at sea, the Mayflower cast anchor at the port later to be called Provincetown, almost 200 miles further north than planned.

 Even though this boat is known as a “Monterey,” the design of this craft originated in San Francisco Bay, California, (90 miles from Monterey). This boat was built at Fisherman’s Wharf in San Francisco and was given the nickname “Monterey”.
The immigrant Italian or Sicilian craftsman in San Francisco Bay, patterned the “Monterey” after the Mediterranean Lateen Sail Felucca, with modifications to accept a gas engine, so this is a true California, USA creation! These boats were “built by eye,” no plans used, the craftsmen simply started with a general double ended design, with an ample beam, clipper bow, and built the remainder by eye. So, “All “Montereys” are alike, but no two are the same.” This 1928 version owned by Angelo Ghio, has all the characteristics of a true “Monterey,” as he chose the style of house; stem curvature etc. that he preferred. Several thousand of these boats were built from 1910 to 1950, they proved to be very sturdy (cedar planking) and reliable with much beauty for a work boat! A few are still in use, the “Monterey” boat is in its 77th year, (its 9th owner). Biilling's kit is single plank-on-bulkhead, and is listed for R/C. Please note that if you are going to use this or any planked kit for R/C, it is necessary to waterproof they hull.

 The NORDEN is a typical coaster of the kind which was earlier very commonly found along the Western coast of Denmark. This type of boat was originally designed around 1930, and represented an improvement of the existing boats and has remained unchanged except that the ship is now a few feet longer and has an enclosed wheel house.

 A three-masted warship launched in about 1643 displacing 1076 tons, the Norske Love was originally named for the Danish coat-of-arms, and was renamed the Oresund in 1772. The vessel was used as a guard boat in the Oresund and other coastal waters around Denmark, and was deleted from the naval register in 1798.

With mini Oseberg included  The Oseberg was found in Norway at Oseberg in Vestfold in 1903, resting on a bed of blue clay and covered with turf and stones. She was built in the last half of the 800's and was buried roughly 50 years later. Historians believe that the Osberg is some 100 years older than similar vessels which have been found.

 This Viking ship dating from about 1000 A.D. was found in 1957 in the bay at Roskilde in Denmark. The wreck was salvaged in 1962, and after a thorough preservation it was possible to carry out a reconstruction of the vessel. Today the ship is on display at the Viking Ship Museum in Roskilde.
Kit features step by step plank-on-bulkhead construction, one side at a time. These bulkheads are referred to as support frames and are later removed. It would be a good idea to use wax paper between the frame and planks to prevent gluing the frames. Planks are laser cut to shape. Building base,rigging line, illustrated instructions, modeling hint book and mounting cradle are included.
 Built in 1931, the St. Canute sailed for many years as a tugboat and icebreaker in the Odense Harbor under its original name of St. Kund. After being owned for a number of years by the Exeter Maritime Museum in Devonshire, England, the ship today is owned by Christer Strandell, a Swedish business man, and has been re-named Stockvik.

 The Wasa was a three-masted Royal ship launched in 1627. She was 70 meters long, displaced 1400 tons and carried of crew of 133 sailors and 300 soldiers.On its maiden voyage in 1628, the Wasa sank in the Stockholm harbor. Using a primitive diving bell, 53 of the ships 64 cannons were salvaged in 1664. The ship itself was lifted from the sea on April 24, 1961 and is now located in the Wasa Museum which was opened the following year.  The Will Everard is a 280 ton bark built for F.T. Everard & Sons in Great Yarmouth in 1925 to 1926. The ship is owned today by P&O Containers Ltd. In 1982, Norther Europes most beautiful captain, according to the press, took command of the ship 24-year-old Sue Harrison, who had obtained her masters certificate in 1979.
