This is a model of the first Russian military submarine Secret Vessel. In 1721, Peter I ordered Efim Nikonov to lay a “large hull vessel” at the site of the Galerny Dvor in St. Petersburg. Morel is considered the first Russian military submarine. The wooden vessel had barrel-shaped contours of the hull about 6 meters long, was fastened with iron hoops, and had a cabin with portholes. The mover was oars. E. Nikonov re-equipped the vessel with “incendiary tubes”, and it became known as the “fire vessel”. The crew totaled 5 people.
